Director, Adult Individual Play

 

  • Direct all aspects, strategies and activities of USTA Adult Tournaments and Wheelchair Tennis throughout the United States.

  • Contribute to the development of Adult Tennis department overall vision, strategy and implementation of programs and initiatives.

  • Provide direction, support and supervision for Adult Individual Play Department staff.

  • Work closely with the Sections and Committees to grow and improve USTA Adult Tournaments and Wheelchair Tennis events, programs and initiatives.

  • Work closely with the Active Network on USTA Tournament applications and serve as a member of the prioritization team on TennisLink projects as necessary.

  • Support the application of NTRP for USTA Tournaments where appropriate.

  • Work closely with the Marketing, Communications and Membership Departments to increase engagement and communication with USTA Adult Tournament and Wheelchair participants. 

  • Provide overall budgetary supervision and personnel review for the Adult Individual Play Department.

  • Serve as a USTA spokesperson as needed.

  • Foster positive relationships with various related organizations, including, but not limited to USPTA, PTR and TIA.

  • Work cross-functionally on other USTA duties and projects as requested.

  • College degree or equivalent experience.

  • An identifiable tennis background.

  • Proven track record of success working in team league environment.

  • Outstanding management and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills.

  • Initiative and persistence in completing tasks and responsibilities.

  • Flexibility and ability to work cross-functionally with other department staff and volunteers

Player Service Manager - National Campus

 

  • Work in cooperation with the Active Network and USTA Community Tennis IT Department to oversee the prioritization and implementation of TennisLink projects to insure enhancements are consistent with increasing participation and overall USTA Digital Strategy.

  • Oversee the Subject Matter Expert teams during requirements gathering and user acceptance testing for all TennisLink projects. 

  • Interface with USTA program managers to keep everyone informed of TennisLink enhancements as well as identifying potential for cross-program development.

  • Manage all aspects, strategies and implementation of the NTRP as it relates to adult and junior tournaments, leagues and team events.

  • Work closely with appropriate USTA National Committees and Sections to improve the association wide application of the NTRP and TennisLink platform in order to increase play frequency.

  • Oversee updates to the NTRP Computer Methodology, Guidelines, Calculations, Grievances, Appeals and Self Rate process.

  • Provide ongoing monitoring and analysis of the accuracy of the NTRP.

  • Work with the Marketing, Communications and Membership Departments to increase engagement and customer satisfaction with the NTRP and TennisLink. 

  • Provide overall budgetary supervision for TennisLink and NTRP as required.

  • Work cross-functionally on other USTA duties and projects as requested.

  • Previous experience with NTRP and TennisLink a plus.

  • College degree or equivalent experience.

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Good telephone personality.

  • Demonstrated ability in clear and independent decision making.

  • Demonstrated ability in coordination, organization and data management.

  • Computer skills – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.

  • Maintain confidentiality.

  • Tennis playing ability is helpful
